      • Yep, more often than not you'll find an out of round tire in a set of 4. Sometimes 2-Cheaper ones are more prone to it as Curt mentioned- Also it seems that the more tread/weight the tire has, the more of a tenancy it has to get out of round at high speeds. Don't know if that's actual fact or not, but just something I've witnessed.

      • Obviuosly you haven't ever bought tubulars! Yes, a surprising number of tires, even expensive tires, are 'lumpy'. Tubulars are worse overall, due to not only tread molding errors, but also when companies cheap out and use 'overlap' inner tubes. This is a pet peeve of mine, and I generally only buy tires that come out round, or I return them.

      • Re: Tire Out of Round? Hook, without seeing it, I wouldn't be able to diagnose the problem, but my first thought was to wonder how cold it was. Cold tires often develop a flat spot where the rubber meets the pavement, and that flat spot disappears when the tire warms up or runs far enough to flex a few times and get it worked out.
